Many people live under a lot of pressure and stress. Unfortunately a massive part of this stress is caused by inner deadlines and inner desire to do more. Being under pressure is leading to the need to control situations and predict what will happen. As a result many people find an area in their life where they want and decide to be perfect. Doing and performing better than the rest.
This creates a perception of being stronger, more ambitious and yes ultimately perfect. There is nothing wrong with setting long term, serious goals that require a lot of hard work. But the idea that by focusing and devoting all your energy and time to become perfect robs you. It does rob you from the possibility to be average, to make mistakes and simply enjoy the day for what it is. This brings lots of small everyday joys that make each moment worthy it.
When you have to obey too many rules, deadlines, goals - the control conquers your life. First side look - this appears as being confident, strong, obsessed to accomplish everything– to become perfect. I was one of those people who strived to become better, to become perfect in everything I chose. I did succeed most of the times and I have failed sometimes, but this didn’t always bring me fulfillment. The real needs that I lacked in those moments were not met even though of my accomplishments.
Being ambitious and setting huge goals is the ultimate way to live and thrive. But my point here is to simply face that being perfect and becoming better than the rest in certain area won’t make your life balanced. It takes courage to admit and accept that you lack something, that you need something more in your life. Could be more confidence, more love for yourself, a person to share your life with or more inspiration to have purpose and meaning.
It takes a lot of effort for some game changers to confess that they need something more. We are built up of emotions and they result in our needs. Being emotional is the key to unlock your real needs in life. Only then you can work hard on your goals, but spend some quality time on your emotional, heartfelt quests, too. They are, if not, more important than your goals equal to them. A person who feels great in his own skin, balanced and inspired, is unstoppable. Being fearless, enjoying life with love and courage is purely inner work. No accomplishments in the outside world or goals met, even overachieved can create it.
