What defines a leader? Is it a person born with the character of a leader or created with the right tools in time? A leader is a visionary, who inspires leads and delegates others. The confusion and information overload when talking about leadership is massive. It’s like looking into a painting with many bright colors and no particular theme. Imagine the funny, confusing face when you read so much information and you do not know what’s true and accurate. In the sea of information we need to find our own filters and chose what to believe or ignore. Talking about leadership and who you need to be in order to be a great leader let me present you with a new concept on modern, effective leadership.
Polarity in us and in lives is constant natural. The concept about In and Yang is the idea that in each person there is a feminine and a masculine side. Let me clarify what I mean by masculine the character that is solid, focused, with strong desires, protective and nurturing. In contrast the feminine aspects are the ability to feel and inspire with freedom, to share and to be vulnerable. How can you be a leader without understanding people with all the polarity in their characters? In order to lead successfully to brighter future a leader needs to connect with the people that he/ she leads. In the past leadership has been associated with the strong masculine characteristics described above. However, as the world is changing we are changing too. The beauty of this concept is our ability to connect to ourselves through both our feminine and masculine side.
A great tool for a leader is to embrace being strong, focused and vulnerable in the same time. Sounds confusing okay I will explain it further. The ability to show emotions, to inspire, to provide freedom and choice are parts of the feminine sides of a character. However, these days these amazing abilities are what great leaders and motivators use to influence and inspire followers. Whereas the focus, strong desires, nurturing and being solid are always required and beneficial for a leader. So why not embrace the new and allow leaders to be all they can be with their true masculine and feminine nature.
Examples of new born leaders who infect us with their emotions, vulnerability and honesty are numerous today. Luckily our world is changing into better, more honest and full of people who seek and work for humility. Being emotional, being free and sharing are the ingredients of true connection and the builders of great relationships in all areas of life. If leaders can be deeply connected to their followers, affect them on emotional level and be who they are will create outstanding results. We are all driven by emotions and if we want to have leaders with massive influence let them be inspirational, emotional, gatekeepers of freedom.
What are the benefits of accepting the masculine and feminine side of a leader? They are numerous no doubts, because we are all polar by nature. By allowing a leader to be their authentic self they become incredibly powerful and their influence becomes stronger. By being emotional and embracing freedom they connect to their followers on a deeper level and to the cause as well. What more can we want from a leader than being a creator of a better reality?
